True,
I have no issue with the balance on mine either with one hand or 5 point contact. I also don't mind the stock trigger actually. I believe Lovie from Zahal also has no issues with keeping the trigger stock. The lads who took the course can comment on that.

I liked the Tavor for crown land and the AR for range use analogy. I also agree that a Tavor for $2200 will not resell for a huge loss.
 
pretty cool rifle, I've had mine for quite a few years, optics, a sling and a way to mount the sling are important as well so I would budget that in too!

I had to sit out a couple of the intense drills, but I did get down and nasty in prone, and showed the boys how to do a Beowulf mag dump on target.

Lovie likes the strong heavy reset of the factory trigger. I have mixed feelings about that. I think a lighter trigger, and more conventionak trigger shape woukd benefit greatly. But it seems tavor aftermarket triggers are failing! I also think us civilians have been spoiled with fast super sensitive race triggers, you dont see the usmc adopting geisele triggers.

The idf manual of arms is a bit different than an AR, they use the lack of reset to indicate mag empty. Im not sure how useful or even possible that is while under stress.

My problem now is I cant get off the toilet unassisted...
 
I had a gen 1 with a nice sized flat top. NEA used to make a nice front end rail kit. The very first rail kit for the Tavor actually. Haven't seen to many of them. Actually I bought the Tavor from the owner of NEA. They used the Tavor I bought from them as the design gun for the front end kit they made and sold.

This is what I wanted to hear.

Anyone else have experience with mepro sights?? This is my main concern.

See, I don't watch for the reset, but I can feel the recoil/weight shift when my bolt carrier locks to the rear. That long stroke piston has got plenty of mass to it!

I love my Tavor. I think everyone should have some sort of bullpup in the arsenal. When I saw this one it out another smile on my face.

Is the washout really that bad? Im just a weekly paper puncher in the back 40 anyway.

Do you have any idea what the expected shelf life of a mepro 21 would be? And does anyone have any experience REMOVING the mepro sight off a gen 1 Tavor? I'm curious what a pain it would be to have the tritium refilled or if I could fit another newer mepro on without the aid of a smith.
 
And I guess more specifically, will he fibre optic day sights outlast the tritium? I'm only going to use it during the daytime likely so if the tritium died but the fibre optics still rolled on id be quite happy.

Tritium starts getting weak around 10yrs, to remove it you would need to remove upper and lower handguards, remove the barrel, and then remove the optic. I don't know where you would get the tritium replaced or how much it would cost, but I am doubtful it would be worth it.
 
I agree, it depends on your usage. If I was range only, or carbine length ARs were legal to have on back road tours, I'd probably just have an AR. But since the Tavor gives me the shortest semi auto, that takes AR pistol mags and Beowulf mags, it makes it the best choice for me. I usually have a vortex 1-4x red dot, but I'll be switching to an Aimpoint for the course, just to get in the spirit of things. Jumping out, loading up, acquiring and firing accurately enough to hammer coyotes is what my Tavor and I do together. But I'm hoping that we'll find more to share and know each other better after rifle couples therapy in a couple weeks with our counsellor Lovie.
