So here I go again .
I had a glock 17 before (GEN 1) It was my first hand gun .
Liked it, Id say, So-So.
Not to fond of the grip angle .
thats my only complaint .
So now I picked up and handeled a (glock 22C), gen three.
I can live with the grip angle . It felt nice .
so I dont have a issue with that .
Im Wondering about the Compensated barrel thats on it .
So my Question is .
Is it noticably effective and does it offer any real benifit over the standard glock 22.
the other question .
is is there any concern that I should have shooting lead reloads with a comp barrel .
Ive reloaded and shot several thousand lead rounds through my glock 17

Get one of the new gen 4 Glocks comming out later this year.....you can choose 3 different grip sizes, might help you a bit with the angle issue? Also stay away from the compensated barrels, they don't work well, hard to clean and on top of that cost you more money.

Ya I figured as much about the comp barrel just the price is at par with the standard.
just cuious is all .
so all in all ,glocks comp barrel is not nessisarily advantagious . and can prove to be more of a hinderance than any benifit ,when compared to the standard barrel .
ok then, thanx .
Maby Ill just wait for the glock gen 4 .

I have a 21C myself (and a 17) and I like it just fine. Can't say for sure if the porting does much, Im sure its at least a little bit effective. It doesn't dirty up the front sight TOO much.

Either way, I just like the way it looks ;)

Ok boys scrap the plastic toys and get a real pistol like a steel framed 1911 eh. Like a friend told me once when he runs out of ammo he will knock you out with his steel pistol next....plastic doesnt hurt!

It just a matter of steel VS plastic. I personal think plastic gun is just as strong as steel gun.

id vote for you to go and play around some more with some newer glocks....to ensure the grip isnt an issue.....if a gun doesnt feel right in your hands it isnt for you....

that being said, i love my g19 ;)

I have a G20 with a spare 40S&W barrel and an Advantage Arms 22LR conversion kit & a G29 10mm's with spare 40S&W barrel.

So my suggestion is get yourself a real gun that you can step down to standard cheaper levels with only a barrel change... :D

ya,,,,,,,,,,, I really really wanted to like the (M&P), Over the glock .
Because I like the sites better, and I think it looks better over all.
But I cant seem to like it.
It just feels very cheap Somehow .
and I cant see myself ever buying one.
The XD Is A Fantastic gun .
I had the XD 40 Tactical, loved it, but sold it.
I will buy another one some day .
Maby the M factor In 45 ACP.
(The XD is the gun Im Im shooting in my avtar).
1911 Is a great platform. Bought a Kimber tactical custom II.
It got ripped off when I had a B&E 3 years Ago.
I will get another 1911 ,Probably, Ed brown commander. of some sort .
My wife just bought me a Beretta 92 FS for Cristmas so Im lovin that right now .........
and Im gunna wait for the Glock GEN 4's to come in and get the 40 S&W

I have a 17C and Ive shot the 17 too, smaller calibre, but with proper posture and hand placement I found the difference in control to be totally negligible, Ide say go for the reg.

the other question .
is is there any concern that I should have shooting lead reloads with a comp barrel .
Ive reloaded and shot several thousand lead rounds through my glock 17
You shouldn't be shooting lead through any kind of Glock, compensated barrel or not. Saying that you reloaded and shot several thousand lead rounds through a Glock 17 is akin to saying that you've been drinking and driving for years and are still alive. Eventually, your luck will run out.

I'm curious what would have happened too him if his luck had run out or could he have just cleaned the lead out of the barrel now and then?
