Considering S&W model 41 as my first firearm

My 41 was my second .22 pistol...and now im so spoiled... all the others that followed are ..sub par.
Loves High Velocity rounds only...but puts them in the black all the time.

you could always get a entry level pistol and then move up to the 41..

What brand do you get the best accuracy with Mini mags ? I'm nervous to shoot that stuff unless I change springs and put in a buffer

I had the same question a while ago: SPF=Sold Pending Funds. I've owned a 52 as well. Shot OK in ISSF Centre-Fire and NRA but I wanted a common platform for shooting, now have a GSP with .32SWLong, .22LR, and (now redundant) .22Short - three calibres, one grip... Now one trigger - rules changes make CF, RF, and SP match all 1000 g trigger.

Which, BTW, the Smith 41 was very good for as well. Tricky adjusting the trigger on the 41, but crisp, clean, and reliable at 1000g.

I went to the range last week, Guy had 2 S&W 41.. He said theyre picky on ammo. But great accuracy. Then again he was shooting thunderbolts and he had more stoppages then my GSG kit.

For reliable 22 pistols Ruger MKI/II/III, 2245. S&W 422/622

Guy at the gun shop told me the 41 has a match barrel and i should only use low velocity match ammo in it.

I did hear in a youtube video that you can change the spring so you can use high velocity ammo in it.

Yes some of the competition guys do that... I tried it but prefer to use the CCI Standard when available even so
