considering switching from 12g to .44 mag for bush gun

Did you modify something or make it your self?
Pictures would be nice if you have any...

I searched for a long time for a shoulder holster but didn’t find anything. I worked with a local leather smith to design this. It works awesome with or without my pack.

CanadaAmmo and ATRS gear my friend! DA50 cal upper on a non restricted ATRS lower. I'm carrying it in my Eberlestock Gunslinger II pack from Wolverine supply. Love CGN.

Sings..... I love to go a wandering, along the mountain track......and as I go I love to sing, My 50 Cal on my back!

:)

That looks like a great design you came up with! I agree with your thoughts on long hip holsters getting in the way and it makes sense to move everything a bit higher.

What do you carry in the small case on the opposite side?

Radio reciever for my dogs tracking collars. It's not just moved up a bit, it's attached to my belt with a quick release clip. Nearly all of the weight is distributed over the shoulders and back. The belt connection is to stop the holster rise as you draw. This eliminates the leg tie and greatly improves the way the rig behaves when crouching etc. Even on a mountain ridge, no one wants me to be singing.

If I’m out getting fire wood and something charges me they’re getting shredded by my Stihl, Evil Dead style lol.

I was thinking that a TACTICAL TOMAHAWK could do double duty.

One of those cool black ones with a dangly thing like this RMJ Tactical Eagle Talon Tomahawk would be perfect. Only $505US.

..... Wow!

Wow indeed...

What oh earth do those two guns weigh? 25 pounds? 30 pounds? More? Very practical...good to see that you have minimized the length of barrel sticking out over your head for good maneuverability in the bush. I find that any barrel projecting more than about 18 inches over the top of my head begins to get cumbersome...

...but to each his own! :)

A large caliber antique revolver as a last resort to pepper spray works for me , wrestling with a 250 pound blackie with a sheath knife hurts and leaves marks

I live in an area where bear and cougar attacks occur. We've also had a spate of shootings. On the day a crazed gunman shot a man I was within 30km. You go ahead and mock. I'll legally carry my gun in the bush.

Not mocking at all... I'd carry a large bore revolver if it was legal. I was replying to Supercubs comment about needing a gun to collect firewood.

IIRC my similar DA50 with the ATR lower weighs in close to 40lbs. Probably 35-36 lbs.

Lol. Hook, line, and sinker as predicted! This is not my bear defense/bush kit obviously. I stretch my 50 from clear cut to clear cut across river valley's. Until I can afford my helicopter, with only foot access, how do you suppose I get her up there?
