Considering the S&W M&P..first hand opinions wanted

Well over 2200 factory rounds through mine (.40cal) and no problems to speak of. Would buy another in a heartbeat. Would like to get a trigger job done to it but up here it likely isn't easy....but haven't really researched it either. Most comfortable grip I have ever felt. Did take the first 100 or so rounds to get used to it although I hadn't really fired a .40 too much so that could have been it too. I have used it for IPSC and it worked well yet the mag safety was a bit of a pain in the a$$ as you are required to decock your gun when finished a stage. I got used to it however but would consider getting it without the mag safety if you want to shoot competitions with it. The plastic based mags are also a little cheap. I now have 8 mags and one base has started to crack thanks to the indoor IPSC and dropping them on concrete. I've heard S&W will replace free of charge but it isn't totally broken yet so I can still use it. Sights are great. Use it with a Blade-tech holster and it works very well. Like others have mentioned you can look at mp-pistol.com for further threads but you'll also find a lot of #####ing and a lot of great advice there as you do with any enthusiasts forums. There were a few problems with the MPB###x serial numbers from what I have read but if you buy now you'll be much higher than that. I bough mine last November and it was an MPF###x. The Stainless Steel slide is solid and smooth unike the Glock 17 which to me feels light and cheap. No spam please!

I would say you should go ahead and buy one right away before too many people find out about them!

Have shot an M&P40 from a friend of mine. Around 100 rounds and no problem. I think it is best grip feel I've ever shot. Trigger is smooth. It is accurate too.

I picked up an M&P in 9mm (from Frontier) after reading lots of favourable reviews here on CGN, a little Internet research and after speaking to another fellow from our local club who had bought one himself in a .40S&W. I've put about 400 rounds of mixed factory and reloaded ammo through mine so far, without any problems. Very happy with it. :)

shot one while at the Smith & Wesson Performance centre in Springfield, Mass. 100rds no problems, more accurate than I though it would be. Double taps were fairly easy using 115gr AE 9mm. trigger was different, but not all together bad. Reliable.
