Considering versamax or browning Maxus

Buddy of mine has a maxus... The gun was good the first duck season except for bead broke off... Fastforward to now and he hates it jams all the time in the duck blind. I'd go with a xtrema 2 can pick one up new and camo for 1200.

A maxus that is jamming with hunting loads needs to come apart and be checked over something is worn or broke. That is obvious especially considering the fact it worked fine for a season unless he is one of these guys that never cleans it..

anytime you shoot you decrease barrel life ... fact of numbers and physics!!

i never stated anything about routine use ... just tired a few rounds normally used for my browning sproting o/u.

regarding lead build up.. i would get more from slugs ... for most trap target I've used are steel ... retarding wads i personally dont see a big difference between shot and slug, for they both have a wad

but yah i agree ... dont shoot target/ reduced recoil out of this firearm .. because they dont cycle!! and yah they like to be cleaned or you will spend days cleaning ... as i have done

I would say the absolute worst bird shot / target shot you can shoot through it other than tungsten is steel for wear and damage. Not to mention the wads used in steel shot loads the plastic wad is a totally different composition and design that what is used for slugs / lead shot and would be hacked to death on the rifling.

have a maxus have had troubles with it jamming in the cold and this year the spring in the gas piston broke sounds like it happens alot on them and u really gotta keep them clean when shooting duck loads gets them dirty just hopping i dont have a hard time finding a spring for it i love the way it handles going too give it another shot when i get the spring fixed
