Product Name: Ruger Black Hawk Air Rifle Combo

Full Product Description

This voluntary recall involves the Ruger Black Hawk Air Rifle Combo (Canadian Tire product number 75-5096), a recreational pellet air rifle with 1000 feet per second ("fps") velocity.

The recalled air rifle can be identified by UPC code 723364440106 or packaging labelled "1000 fps." Consumers who no longer have the product packaging can verify the product by examining the serial number located on the barrel: the serial number on the recalled product does not end in "C."

Hazard Identified

Umarex USA, is voluntarily recalling the Ruger Black Hawk Air Rifle Combo that may have been sold to Canadian Tire customers without the required licensing under the federal Firearms Act.

While firearms within the meaning of section 2 of the Criminal Code are not regulated under Canada's consumer product safety legislation, Health Canada is posting this recall to help to broadly distribute the message to consumers who may have purchased the item believing it was a consumer product.

Neither Canadian Tire nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these air rifles in Canada.

Corrective Action

Customers are asked to immediately discontinue using their Ruger Black Hawk Air Rifle Combo with the above mentioned UPC number.

Contact Canadian Tire Customer Relations at 1-800-387-8803 (English) or 1-800-565-3356 (French) to verify if their product is affected by this recall.

Number Sold

The number of air rifles sold is unknown but it is believed to be minimal.

Time Period Sold

The recalled air rifles were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada from June 2011 to May 2012.

Looks like Canadian Tire listed and sold properly marked boxes containing 500+ fps air rifles without requiring the consumer to have a valid PAL, and have convinced Umarex to recall them.

If I did it, I'd be looking at jail time. What are the concequences for CTC?
