This is probably a stupid question but is the controlled deer tag the same as an antlerless deer tag? and if not do I simply go down to service ontario and put in for a controlled deer tag or is it to late to get them?
Controlled hunts, generally in more populated areas, or areas where deer numbers are quite low, limit not only the number of tags for does, but the total number of tags.
Thereby limiting hunter numbers.
Can I still hunt with someone that has a controlled tag as long as as a group we only kill as many deers as we have tags? basically hunt with someone else that has a controlled tag?
Alright I wasnt sure I know I have my deer tags and deer on my outdoor card which would allow me to help him fill his tags Im not trying to lose my guns and everything just to hunt during the controlled deer hunt, I will simply wait till next year and enter into it.
I bow hunt with my buddy from Toronto in 65, and in the past the MWU in Ontario have always given out a great deal of antlerless deer tags. This year they have cut back substantially because of the drop in the deer population in eastern Ontario.
We were out scouting our spots last week (bow season opens in 22 days) and we noticed a lot less deer evidence as compared to last year. The population has definitely taken a dip.
The real reason the tags r down is no one is sending in there forms surveys n the mnr is to cheap to hire biologists. The number of deer is the same or higher my part of south western ontario deer r more then ever gettin hit and destoying crops yet our tags were cut 80% in some units. Good deer number plus good winter equals lotsa fawns and I've never seen so many fawns b4
