Just wondering if theres a conversion kit for any of the AR 15 type rifles (specifically the stag 2L) in .22 lr or a smaller caliber than 5.56. I'm kinda new to the hobby so forgive me if it's a foolish question!

I think that you are out of luck on doing a .22 conversion on a Stag 2L. The carriers on the conversions are set up for right side ejection only. It's simple enough to do on a standard rifle, but those lefty ones rule out simple conversions unless you replace the entire upper with a dedicated right sided .22 one.

yup I have a ceiner .22 conversion kit it has 30 rnd mags (.22 long rifle)

it just replaces the bolt/carrier in a normal ar15/m16 upper

the kit I have is the M16 kit thats why it has 30 rnd mags

those kits are hard to get up here these days and some work and some dont I replaced all the springs with aftermarket ones even the hammer spring in my lower as the ar15 spring was too stiff and the hammer was NOT locking back causeing some 2-3 rnd "bursts" once i changed out the springs everything was a ok no more troubles still stove pipes the odd time you just need to keep it clean

I got the kit for a real good price on here in the EE

stag 2L -> Lefty. The Ciener is only manufactured in standard right side ejection.

Hiya Mike. Daniel here, took the course with you in Dec.
So, if I got a RH upper, then i'd be able to get a kit for it? also, since it would be rimfire, would i be able to get huge mags for it?

A RH upper would be able to run a .22 kit.

Being a rimfire, there is no mag capacity.

Ciener makes a conversion with 10 or 30 rd mags available for it. I run a Colt kit in my rifle, but there are only 10 rd mags available for them. DPMS was working on a kit as well, but they have shelved it to work on making the ejector part of the bolt assembly rather than the magazine. The Ciener kit usually needs a bit of tinkering to make it run reliably. The Colt kits are pretty reliable, but are not in production anymore. They do turn up for sale in the EE section from time to time though.
