Just looking at the de prohib thread, and didn't want to hijack it. Has anyone actually converted a ppk from .32 to .380 and what's involved. The barrel needs changed of course, but what about the slide? Or if the slide is ok, what about the extactor. Is it just a matter of putting on a .380 extractor. Would like to hear some input if anyone has done it.

Another poster mentioned that when you read the fine print, it may not be possible to convert a .32 or .25 to restricted with a caliber change.

At one point is was okay, then suddenly it wasn't. Ask Griffoneur. He is obsessed with PPK's!

I need to get the text in front of me and see if I can decode the damned thing. Part of me wonders how the CFC will then deal with requests to re-register .32acp's that can be converted simply by swapping out a barrel, like some of the Brownings to .380. Same slide, same mag, just a different barrel.

I spoke to a CFC technician and I asked about the .25 and .32 not being allowed to convert to a restricted caliber and they said that they did have that policy but it has been put on hold. Caliber changes from .25 and .32 to restricted are good to go.... for now. :)

I talked to them today and they said the same thing, no problem. I will be in touch with them via e mail and try to nail them down. Right now it's just a project in my mind's eye. I don't even know if it's feasable, that's why I am looking for input. I have 12/6 so won't be bastardising it to restricted.

Ive had several PPKs in .32 rebarreled to a restricted .380. In addition to the barrel the breach face needs to be touched up a bit and the extractor shortend I belive thats about it. Ive had Barry at BITS of PIECES do all mine and he does an excellent job and knows the paper work well.

Well that is great news that they are again allowing the calibre change to go from prohib to restricted.

They used to permit it, then changed their minds for a couple years, (using the interpretation that the calibre was AS MANUFACTURED), and now apparently they changed it back again....... (for now)
