Convert SKS to bolt action, to prevent being prohib

Making the SKS into a straight pull bolt action would be analogous to re-barreling a snubby 2.5 inch revolver with a 4.25 inch barrel.

If the RCMP allow such modification to a prohib revolver, why not a mod to a prohib rifle to prevent it from ever firing in semi auto...
That is, if ever they ban the SKS.

Pistols are prohibited on one characteristic, barrel length. Except for the .25 and .32 autos which are also prohibited by caliber. Change the characteristic and it no longer meets the criteria to be prohibited?

If the SKS was classified prohibited by name it wouldn't matter what you did to it. It's still a SKS receiver so it's prohibited. If converting it was an option people would already be doing this with ARs and such.

Here come the pleas for compromises... this is exactly what the Libs want! I won't give back a goddamn inch of what should and shouldn't be allowed to be owned by law abiding gun owners.

Should be easy. We weld shut the gas port. Then over the gas piston to the RCMP at the same time they certify the gas port has been welded.

I don’t mind keeping a bolt action SKS for hunting.

I heard some good ol boys talking about if the ban the sks, it just means it is time to unpin the mag..
Im not suggesting anything, nor planning to do it, but it sounds better than welding up a gas port..

Only if you block the mag to one shot. And weld it in place. If not straight pull bolt actions are manual automatic semi-automatics so too dangerous. Don't forget to have the bayonet removed.

You're not thinking like a Liberal. The fact that there are that many of them "on the street" is a national security crisis. All the more reason to ban them.
