Does anyone offer a good automatic pistol with the option of converting from 40 S&W to 9mm, the same way a SIG 226 in 357 converts with a barrel change to 40 S&W? My preference is for a reliable combat style pistol. Any insights appreciated. Cheers!

Any Glock 40, you can buy 9mm conversion barrel.
Sig does that too.

The trick is to get the bigger barrel first, then the small bore later.

I think the conversion has to be very close.
Say from 45 to 9mm, there might be feeding problem.

SIG told me directly that they have no 226s with a 40 to 9 option. They do offer a 357 SIG -- 40 S&W option. I will look at the Glock option though ... thank you!

There is a CZ pistol ... TT-9 or some such gun that is a clone of the CZ75.

It can swap between 9mm, 40 and .45 I believe. Neat looking gun...It actually is made in the Czech Republic, and is labelled CZ but is made from a different company than the Czeska Zobroyovka that we all know.

Blue Line activities carries them, I looked at one, looks well made and neat.

Bingo!!!

We have a BINGO! Give the man a prize ... this was exactly what I was thinking. Check it out: http://www.czamerica.com/about.html ; indeed Blue Line is a local vendor too. Not a lot of info on the piece but it definitely is worth checking out. Many thanks!

The Tanfoglio Witness CZ copies can be changed from 9mm to .40 by swapping top ends and magazines. I don't think Freedom Ventures stocks the conversion kits, though.

Tanfoglio Limited Custom II can be changed over from .40 to .357 sig with just a barrel change.

9m can be had with barrel, spring and mag change.

same with .38 Super Auto+

Sometimes it's just better to get another gun... yet another reason why .. 'one is never enough'

I had good experience with Questar as Colin mentioned.

Beside the conversion, there are different grades of barrel as well, such
as match grade (tight fit), or just drop in. Tight fit may required a gun smith
to file the side of the breach.

I did try to search for it...;)...but does anyone know of a list of 9mm pistols that can accept - and feed from - .40 S&W magazines while still in "standard 9mm form"?....:yingyang:

Hey, I know (a) this topic has come up before, and (b) it's no different than discussing "ghost-loading"....

With all the authority of "something I read on the Internet," a Browning HiPower in .40S&W can be converted to 9mm by installing the slide from a 9mm, but it doesn't work the other way round - i.e. don't put a .40S&W slide on a 9mm frame.
