Welcome to CGN there are lots of great things to read and learn on these forums. Someone in the red rifles section may have a better idea of the answer to your question. But if the AVT was full auto you likely don't have a converted one. Have fun, enjoy your stay and stay safe!

Edit: Nice it was moved there!

Let's hope that none of the SVT-40s imported into Canada are AVTs converted to semi auto.
This would be an enormous can of worms.

Full auto AVT is a specialist weapon. Its purpose was to supplement troops when there was lack of machine guns at the begining of the war. When they found out how inacurate and uncontrollable this thing was, they dropped the idea. Same thing US realised in 1950s when they were experimenting with full auto M14s, can't hit anything with 7.62x51 on full auto. x54 is even worse.

The M14A1 was no harder to control then the Bren or BAR............carried one in 67-68.........was even able to get some experimental 30 rd mags...................that thing spoke with authority!!!
