Converting a Model 70 Ranger to a floorplate

I've got a Model 70 Ranger in 30.06, and want to know how difficult and costly it would be add Model 70 LA bottom metal.... (other than stock inletting)

Any advice/experience would be welcome.

Buy correct box, follower and spring, bottom metal and screws. If it were me, I'd just buy a regular stock and use it rather then try to inlet the Ranger stock. Some Rangers did come with bottom metal, I have one in 6.5x55. - dan

I know it's not answering your question, but I refinished the stock on my Ranger a few years back. Here is the 'American hardwood' I found under the factory finish. Everyone who see's it is impressed. And the gun is a shooter too.

"...under the factory finish..." It'll be very pretty when it's finished. Tung oil is your friend. Kind of amazing for what is considered to be low end stock wood.
