Converting a Savage large shank prefit to small shank prefit

I have a Savage large shank prefit here, that was ordered before I decided, on a whim, to entirely change my rifle ‘fleet’ so to speak.
Now I only use actions that are R700 foot and trigger compatible, while staying Savage small shank barrel compatible.
A way of standardizing the collection.

Now this barrel designed with a Savage large shank in mind,
Would a regular barrel fitting/chambering gunsmith be able to modify to small shank?
Would costs likely be over 200$? Negating the advantages of simply selling and ordering a new one if it’s the case.

Yes. Probably $100. Check your local smiths...

I am wondering if the beefier profile off my large shank would prevent a barrel nut from fitting there.
I’ll unwrap and measure it.
If it wouldn’t fit there would be more dollars in play to reduce barrel profile.

Edit : metal pass threads is 1.125’’ dia
Barrel nut interior (where there aren’t threads) is 1.075’’
Barrel would either need some extra machining pass threads or a custom nut...

I just done that the other night. Fairly simple. Turn down the large shank threaded part to 1.055" then rethread the 20tpi. Good smith should take under 2hrs total working time. Once its in the lathe to machine 1inch of tenon compared to 3inches is a matter of seconds. The time consuming part is the setup and alignment
 
The easiest is just to turn the barrel down enough for the smaller nut... and leave the forward part of the barrel large...

Actually the easiest is to sell the barrel...
 
I suppose just enough of the shank could be turned and threaded to the small diameter to screw into the receiver and accept the barrel nut. The front end of the barrel nut could be bored out to fit over the larger diameter of the barrel beyond the reduced diameter portion. The transition in diameters would be covered by the barrel nut. The other option would be to turn the barrel to small shank diameter, blending the smaller diameter into the taper when you get that far along the barrel, then refinishing the barrel.
