Converting AR180B

Hey all,
I was at work today and had some weird idea, a part of it would be converting an AR180B to some larger caliber, while keeping the same OAL of the cartridge (6x45mm or so). So I was wondering if a such thing would require only a custom barrel or if internals would need to be upgraded. Of course I would try to keep the same pressure to not be too hard on the machine. Any ideas/advice on this? I know of the plastic lower and this kinda worries me, but the AR-15 can switch to some large bore while on the same lower, so maybie this is not all that weird.

I remember reading some article about 6.5x43 (6.5 MPC) caliber which is 223 case opened up to take 6.5 bullet. Difference between 6.5X43 and 6.8 SPC is that mags and bolt will work, no need to replace them.

Hmmm... Looks like totally different case sizes.

I'd like to see a new caliber for the 180's. :)

Are the lower registered and considered as the firearm itself or is it the whole rifle? Also would an upper be incredibly pricey to have made or would it be resonable? Any calibers with same OAL as .223 rounds and with comparable pressure ?

Just the lower, always has been. Do what ever you want with the uppers.

Any compagnies known to make such custom work? Or any Cnc operator wish to chime in and give a rough estimate?

Just had an idea... I know the answer is no, but if I don't ask I'll wonder for the next 6 months...

Could an AR-15 upper fit an AR-180B lower?

Negative - even if it could fit, you couldn't use it (the AR15's buffer spring can't be installed in the AR180B.)
