Converting No.1 SMLE to .308

so apart from a new barrel in .308 which is no issue to get hold of..
and converting to bolt face to a .308 case size ( probably the hardest part )

is there anything else i will need to take into consideration?

Consider changing the mag. i can`t see 308 cases feeding from the original mag. to good.

Although it has been done it is not advisable as the rifle is not built for the pressures developed by the 308 .The Ishapore enfields were chambered for the 7.62 NATO but they were not a converted #1s but a stronger action designed for the higher pressures.

What conversion? I use the same bolt face for 223 and also 17 ackley bee .All you change is the extractor
