Converting savage 16 to detachable mag

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a savage model 16 with a blind magazine to the model that has a detachable magazine? (perhaps by changing the stock??).

I beleive you will need the stock as well as the magwell and mag...I am not familiar with the savages,but there is more to it than just a stock change...hope this helps a bit

This is what I was thinking... the stock will of course have the magwell incorporated, and you might just need the metallic insert and the magazine. The question is, remove the stock so you just have the barreled action, and will this just drop into the detachable-mag stock without any problems...?

I never had a detachable mag but the dm actions have cuts on the sides to stop and help place the mag. Does your action have these relief cuts in the sides about 1/8" up from the mag opening?
