Hi there
I was just wondering if any of the cooey 60/ 600s had scope rails or were drilled for mounting a scope from the factory?

I just put a 9 power scope on a modle 64 and am just as accurate with the irons on my modle 82. I was pretty disapointed, so i thought that I would try a 60, but hesatant to butcher an old gun.

Thanks in advace for any helpfull info.

I have a model 600 that I was given by my GF's mom and it is drilled and tapped for a mount. I am pretty sure they did nothing but buy it and shoot it (she told me it has never been cleaned and I believe it ), so it probably came that way. No idea if they are all this way or not.

Yes, some of the model 60's and 600's were drilled and tapped from the factory for a side mount, but not all were. Also, some of the later 600's had the grooves in the receiver for a dovetail mount.

Whether or not you scope the '60, it's still an awesome rifle to have in your collection even with iron sights. My '60 was drilled out for a side mounted scope and I had it scoped for a while, but I went back to iron sights.

The '60 is a handy and Ridiculously reliable .22 however you dress it up, and mine shoots lights out with the irons. (It did pretty good with the scope as well)

I have a few Cooeys and, have owned a few more...

My 60 does have the holes for a side mount. There were 2 mounts (1" tubes) in the EE earlier this week too (30 bucks shipped for the pair). Would'nt be any butchering required....I missed them.

As for rails (as stated by gunsaholic) later 600's had dovetails for rimfire rings.

As I read, you're 64 with a scope is "tied" with an 82's iron sights? I adore my 64 but, am jealous of your's! My 75s (similar to 82 but, no peep) are considerably more accurate than any of my 64's.

yeah i'm sure that it has more to do with my shooting ability with irons at 100 yards than the rifel
i find that the scope just allows me to see the target better and i think thats the only advantage
i should just scope the model 82
i did see someone on here along time ago use the existing holes to mount a scope on his 82, sure would like to see a pic of that to copy :)

I adore my 64's but, have hit a clay (on it's edge) at 100 with my 75. Same session a fellow CGN'er hit a golfball, shot glass and, baby-food lid all at 100.

Felt good as, we shared the "range" that day (local gravel pit) with a fellow, his Tika with mounted Zeiss...fellow CGN'er knocked down all of their targets! Open sights only...

In the Cooey makeover thread there's a few picturs of 75's with bases attached. Being able to use the "rear" hole on your 82 would be handy.
