I'm going to mount a scope on my model 60 it's chew'd up and the only good thing on it is the barrel so I'm going to home make a scope mount(it's my gun so if you don't like it...tough) I'm thinking drill and tap angle iron and mount a weaver rail on it. Any better ideas (remember this guns a POS that If I wanted to fully restore I would need a new stock and the metal is deeply pitted so this is a mod gun)

HaHa, I like it!

Check out the Cooey makeover thread at post #255 for a full account of how I scoped my model 750.

If I did another one I'd buy the rail like you plan to but I'm not sure how you intend to mount the angle iron on the barrel.
I think making a collar for the front mounting point, and drilling and tapping the receiver for the rear one might serve you better.

Front collar.

Tapping for rear mount.

I don't know what tools you have access to but when there's a will there's a way, right.

I have access to a full steel shop so I'm fine there and I'm thinking of a D&T into the receiver.i might have to remove some wood from the stock to sink it enough to clear, then...scope and home camo job

For learning, and experience doing your own projects are priceless. You can also still purchase scope mounts that will utilize the 4x holes already tapped on the side of your 60. I acquired one that has 1" rings for 40$ off the EE, and that was shipped.

If you do go "custom" be certain to post your methods, and finished product.

I'm handy on a TIG so I might make it an integrally mounted scope mount and the D&T the weaver rail on. Will do it tonight and yes I will post pics of the finished(all painted up) project and I'm doin this for free (got the gun free and modding it for free) I have a 3-9x40 ebay special scope that I'll throw on it. And yes I know that this is a complete bubba job and I would like to say I'm never gunna to sell it as it is bubba'd

I guess "folk smith" is more genteel than "Kitchen Smith".
