Hey,

I've got an old cooey 60 with an interesting problem. If I cycle rounds through it, the 2nd through last round end up with the bullet a bit smashed up. Round noses it just flattens a bit, HP's it mashes up pretty good. What seems to be happening is that when I'm closing the bolt to chamber a round, the next round pops up a bit as the loading ramp/ejector falls and then is forced back into the magazine on an angle by the bolt, causing it to mash up the bullet. I've found in i hold the loading ramp/ejector thing up (with the stock off) it doesn't do this. I've tried to figure out how to rig up a spring or something to keep a bit of upward pressure it when assembled but can't figure out how. Any advice on a way to fix this? Maybe someone can post a picture of their Cooeys action so i can see if I'm missing a piece? I love this gun, its super accurate with everything but HP's and I figure this is why!

Yeah, right now I don't use HP's, it does this with everything from 2-11 in the tube. It mostly just bothers me that it doesn't work the way it should.

must be a dirty mag tube or you have a bent or worn out extractor or pickup. My 60 feeds all makes of ammo , only hollow point when shooting varmints .....without hesitation. Try hand placing a casing into the extractor spot on the bolt. That should tell you if there is a problem.

I had this problem on a Cooey 60 and the cause was a bent extractor which also picks up the cartridge and loads it. I bent it by trying to jam the extractor over a round that was already partially chambered. When it bent, it would only partially tip up the cartridge on the feeding part of the cycle and it then sheared some of the tip as it jammed past the mouth of the chamber. Tried bending it back without success and eventually bought a replacement. POS gun that I finally sold out of frustration.
