Cooey 60??

Not certain about the "special" models...n'er laid eyes on one. The ones marked "repeater" were made between '31 and '39. They predate the model 60, but are very similar. I haven't seen one of these with factory taps on the side for scope mounts. Also the stock is shaped slightly different. Rounder at the pistol grip.
I haven't met one that still retained a bore that couldn't shoot really, really well. With Cooey-fever getting stronger everyday, it should fetch more than 100 bucks.

I have the single shot special and the repeater special. I also had another repeater special that I traded to a fellow CGNer this past fall. I have also seen one other one. All had the hand checkering. Now in the Ace line there was also a special that didn't have checkering. The difference in it from the other Ace models was that it was a larger, heavier gun with different sights--more of a full size rifle.
Camster--I have 2 model 60's with the factory side mount holes. One has been engraved by D.H. Cooey on the buttplate. It was a presentation to a salesman in 1964. Never been fired with the original box. On the end of the box it says drilled and tapped for the Weaver N3 mount.

Cooey was produced in Canada and not subject to the laws of the U.S. if they were not exported from Canada. In all the time I have been interested in firearms, I have rarely seen any serial numbers on anything other than the 84/840's, 600's and the later 64's.

I would assume if Cooey was exporting any of their rimfires to the US, it would be simpler to put serial numbers on all of them, rather than only ones they were planning to export.

Although better than 3x, you're still offering a used gun for the fair price of a new one (plus shipping)...it should fit in the EE quite well.

Before 1968, serial numbers were not required by the US. But yes, after 1968 Canada pretty much put serial numbers on firearms as well. Regarding Cooey, they were not around in 1968.

I knew of 2 of your specials...I'm not sure if I should be 1/3 more jealous now or not.

Your friend (and author) might be at the show this Sunday... I'll have to apologize to him! I left a message at his house when I read of his demise (here on CGN) expressing condolences, he did laugh when he called back!

My goof--I was thinking model 60 when talking about the sidemount. (slapping my hand).

You are wrong. Well I guess I shouldn`t say that cause I have not posted my 10/22 on the EE, but hey...if someone needs one bad enough.....I have a stock 10/22 carbine and I`d let it go for exactly what I paid for it. I put maybe 20 shells down the pipe. Bought it on Feb 16th/2013. Paid 263.99 after taxes. That is what I want, you pay shipping. Now there is an honest deal that isn`t marked up 3x!!
