I've got a problem with this rifle, its misfiring about 1 in 5 rounds... I bought a new bolt for the rifle and Im still misfiring , if I #### the bolt after a misfire the round will fire....

the new bolt needed about .015" filed off the arm to get it to close into the opening on the barrel, it fits quite tight to the barrel at the end of the bolt... rounds eject and load flawlessly, and appears that the round is snug against the barrel...

My father says these old rifles just misfire... is this really the case ?

any advice is appreciated.

Nope. Misfires are caused by one of four things in these guns:
Excessive Headspace - Have you actually checked the headspace on the rifle. If the barrel is set forward on you, no amount of bolt thrust from the bolt handle will correct it;
Short Firing Pin - is the fired brass or mis-fired brass showig light strikes?
Weak/Dirty Striker Spring & Inner Bolt - see light strikes, but with proper firing pin protrusion...clean bolt well
Bad Ammo - Have you tried different types of ammo, i.e. new, properly stored stuff?

Or striker mechanizm foulded with old grease and crud. Have you tried pulling the bold and soaking in a jar full of karosene for a couple of days?

I did clean the bolt with brake clean when it arrived, I'll try soaking it and see if it helps..

I do see a good strike on the round when it misfires...

I have not checked the head space, had the barrel of set forward would I not see some indication of this around the collar where the barrel inserts into it ?
