I was recently given a Cooey 600 in quite good condition. The wood was redone and it shoots well with the iron sights, however, these old eyes need a scope! It is drilled and tapped for a side mount. I just ordered a weaver #2 side mount, but am having trouble finding out what rings to use. I want to put on a 3-9X40 Bushnell or equal. If you mounted a scope on your 600, what did you use for rings etc? Any help is really appreciated!

There are two models of Weaver side mount rings available. A standard set that go up and over from the side mount, and a set that moves the scope forward, intended for the M94 Winchester. These two ring sets give a choice for eye relief.

Just to clarify a bit - the Weaver system today is two parts - the side base that gets attached to the receiver, then ring assemblies that attach to that side base. Uses scopes with 1" tubes. Side bases are made for various rifles (curved and flat receiver walls), including the Cooey, but also used for Lee Enfields, P14/M1917 Enfields, mausers, etc. (and Winchester 94, as tiriaq mentions!) with drill and tap required. Back in the day, Weaver made a one piece "sheet metal" affair - side base and "rings" (actually, sheet metal straps) all in one - same screw hole pattern on the rifle, but almost all I have worked with were for smaller 3/4" or perhaps 7/8" ".22" scopes.
Thank you both for the information. Back in the "old days" I had the sheet metal mount aand knew it was only good for the 3/4" tube. Will get things all together now and make this old rifle come alive again. Might even replace my BL22 as my gopher gun. Thanks again!!
I put the #2 side mount base and the standard side mount rings (Weaver number 49350) on my father's 60 with a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 when his eyes were giving him trouble. They work well, personally though, if it was my rifle, I'd try the long 49340 rings, as I find the eye relief annoying with his current setup. But that's a personal preference. Found mine at a local gun store, but Cabelas also has the standard size
Well, I got home from the south with a #2 (48402) Weaver base and a #49350 Weaver side mount ring set. I installed on my Cooey 600 and the Tasco Pronghorn scope is centred on the rifle at the rear, but about 1/8" +- off centre at the front of the scope. The base where it screws on the receiver at the back of the base is about 1/32 " away from the receiver. Any thoughts?? Drilled incorrectly at the Cooey factory? Scope does not seem to be parallel with the barrel either. Tried to sight in quickly at 25 yards and had to turn the scope evation knob to the bottom to even get close. Will try at 75 yards later this afternoon, but am concerned that the misalignment of the scope will prove a big problem.
