The Cooey 64 (basic) my father bought for me as a kid came back into my hands. It seems pretty accurate at rimfire distances but last night tragedy struck when the extractor spring broke. This is a pre-serial number unit and the bolt is different than the modern versions. It has a different firing pin and the extractor itself is a spring.
This rifle didn't ever have a light strike issue, but it would not extract the brass occasionally. The most significant issue was 1 in 10 to 20 shots wouldn't eject the brass fast enough and the spent brass ended up sideways, pinched between the bolt and chamber.

Are these older extractor springs being made or reproduced by anyone?

1 in 20 isnt too bad. Depends on the ammo.

But check out Canada Brass or western gun parts.

Numrich in the states may have it.

The piece I have is 0.014" thick and 0.095" wide.

I don't know if the original is thicker than 0.014" as the picture seems to have more of the groove filled than mine did.
The current plan is to fashion one from a feeler gauge and see what happens unless I can find a replacement.

WGP had stock and the Cooey is being looked at by a gunsmith shortly.
