Does anyone here know where i can buy the cooey metal mag conversion? i bought a rifle with one of these installed the seller said a gunsmith did it but that is all. I will be getting another gun with a plastic mag so i want to attempt at converting it. please help. Thank you

I ordered the parts directly from Savage, I came across a plastic mag 64 that wasn't all that well suited to being converted. Forget the exact issue, but the original mags were a much better fit, and left it.

The plastic mags are worth about half the price of the gun, and are a rare item.

Yea, the only issue with the one I was working on was a missing spring from the original mag, so I just replaced it with a spring from the metal mag. Works good, thought I might end up with the little rifle, but it wasn't meant to be.

I was talking to a guy at the Truro gun show and he told me that Western Gun Parts sells the conversions. He also mentioned the conversion parts and mags are each in the $30 range.

Good to see you're still around winnipeg. Yea, metal 64 magazines direct from savage was around $15 a piece a couple years ago.

Here the metal mags are $26+tax also it is a no on the filing top of the mag it ruins it. I got a gun with this conversion and mag is now junk. It needs to have spot where the catch goes in filed instead in my opinion. Where is the Western gun parts located?
