Cooey 64 project

Got my first one cheap near new but full of sand and crud. Guy told me it was junk. I cleaned it up and a gunsmith friend of the family showed me how to take sharp edges off and polish. Best 22 I ever had till I got my CZ452. Took hundreds of groundhogs with that gun and it was quite accurate. Had an old Weaver 4x on it. Too bad I sold it. Just finished fixing another one up and put a new firing pin in-last one broke and was welded. Well that didnt work. Out to the range in the next few weeks. Must be the simplest guns to work on. They are princesses but keep them clean and they work real well.

update

I finally got out to shoot this gun. The barrel work was a resounding success. At 25 yards, it will now shoot into a single hole, it is way more accurate than any other 64 that I have ever seen. At 50 yds, I was getting decent groups as well, but I was only using a 4x scope, hard to make tiny groups with a 4x at 50. I had no feeding issues or extracting problems, now I will see if I can make the trigger a little better and do some bedding work to make the action a lot tighter in the stock. Overall, I was very impressed with the outcome, and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have another barrel that is tough on the extractor slot, so I think I'll try once more. Later.
