anyone else have one of these? mine has a hair trigger. i dont use it ever as it dangerous. also, if you use gloves in the winter and your thumb slips off the hammer while cocking it will go off.
too bad too because its such a nice light easy pointing gun.
 
Pull the butt stock off and take a look at the trigger and hammer notch. Maybe a bunch of old oil /crud in there stoppin full engagement. They are very simple shotguns and usually very reliable.
 
I have one that is basically brand new. It doesnt have a hair trigger. The way the tigger is set up is that the trigger locks the the grooves of the hammer. The edge of the hammer is worn out and is now rounded. You need to take it apart and re-shape these edges. I have done it befoe and its not to hard, just make sure you have the right file.
 
Stupid question, but did the 840's have a firing pin sprin. Checked the schematic at numrich's and it doesn't show one, also the 1 i just picked up didn;t have one
