Cooey 840 .410?

As a kid I used to hunt rabbit on my uncles farm with his 840 .410, it was the first real gun I ever used and I am interested in possibly picking one up for sentimental reasons and as a grouse gun but have heard that shooting steel through them is a no-no?

What are the opinions on this guns quality and value as a bush gun?

It's fine as a bush gun and you don't need steel shot for that. Value for a .410 will be anywhere from $100.00 to around $175.00 depending on condition and how bad you want one.

Make sure the shot is clear. 410 wont bust through twigs and leaves like 12 or 20g.

Ive got a Cooey 410 with full choke and I restrict my shots to 15m wide open only, no brush at all. You can use lead for grouse and small game.

Go to some gun shows. Theyre fairly common, and the going value is fairly cheap.

You can. Somebody here wanted some to hunt waterfowl a few years back. Something I would never attempt with a 410

Keep a close eye on the EE or run a want to buy add.There has probally been 6 or so on in the past few months but they sell very quickly.Good luck

I have 2 of them in .410. OK but certainly not perfect quality wise. The front beads fell off because they're only spot glued and the Forend Pivot Plate cracks because it's plastic. I ordered metal ones as replacements. One of them was super hard to #### until cocking it a few hundred times.
