Cooey 'Ace'

Is a Cooey 'Ace' a regular cooey model 39, or a cut down 'youth ' version of a Cooey single shot?

The Cooey Ace has nothing to do with the model 39. The Ace was an early Cooey product which came out after the Canuck. There were several variations of the Ace with many of them being small boy's rifles. The Ace was Cooey's own brand model, not a store brand. The Eaton's store brand back then was Eatonia.

Not to hijack, but what are all the names of the small boy rifles manufactured by Cooey? The Ace, Canuck, Sport, Rabbit.....? Others?

I have an Eatonia which is a small size. Maybe not as small as an ACE. I don't have one to compare.

The Eatonia is the house brand for Eaton's pre war. It was made by Cooey, but was basically a model 39 with the Eaton's brand on it. Like I posted above post war the name changed for the Cooey made for Eaton's rifles to Ranger. They were just 39 and 75's with Ranger on them instead of the 39 and 75 designation. The Model 39 was basically targeting the youth crowd and the 75 targeted the adult shooter. Though many adults shot the model 39 as well.

The repeater is mentioned in the book as a "first hand account" of someone who owned one mid 30's... I can't remember breakfast most days!

Yup forgot the pre war ones were different than the post war. The Pre war like you said were based off the Canuck/Ace and the post war were based off the 39/75. Little too much of the Kracken last night lol.

The one I have here is about 37" over all, with a 19" barrel. Skinny little stock, finger grooves.

My first rifle was a Cooey ACE and I cleaned it up a bit and gave it to my Grandson ...he has to wait a couple years to shoot it yet ..lol

I'm still kicking myself I didn't buy the one I saw in the gun store,it was in excellent shape and they only wanted $80...
