Cooey Experts,

A Question. I thought I read somewhere that you could indicate the age of cooey by the bolt handle. Tried looking on Google and here but not getting much luck.

I know there are a couple types of bold handles. The flat one during early production (i think), then the bolt handle with a knob.

I believe I read that you could indicate the year based on the how the bolt handle was made. I have 2 cooey 60, one bolt handle is curved downward, and the other sticks out almost straight out. Can these be used to indicate the year ?

I know that the 60 was made by cooey from about 1939 to 1961, then it was by winchester until 1967. I am aware that details of the knob (size, grooves) can indicate a range of years, not sure what they are though or if they apply to the 60.

Any info would be appreciated.

I don't believe you can date them accurately by the bolt handle except to say that the first Cooeys had a flat bolt, then some had a small round knob before going to the larger knob. Bolts could get switched out at any point during its life. Also, if one of your bolts is pretty much straight, I would think someone had it bent .
