Cooey Bluing Removal and finishing

So it started with refurbing the stock and cleaning up the blueing with steel wool.
After I had rust and stock completed I took it out for a test fire.
This lil cooey is great!!
So upon removing home out came the vinegar and the blueing is 90% off.
My issue right now is that I have 2 screws I cant seem to get out of the barrel, which hold the weaver scope mount.
I tried liquid wrench with no success.
Any tips or tricks?

Also what do you fellas use when removing the bluing near the chamber. I don't want it to cause rust...

There's also bluing removers available from the gunstores.

Keep in mind that bluing is a form of modified rusting. So a blue remover isn't going to CAUSE rust. It's more likely to remove some you don't know is there.
 
Well I used vinegar and a sock and got 95% off.
It works amazing.

Only need to get these 2 screws off and I will be well on my way to bluing.
 
you might need a little heat. try a mini torch or a small soldering gun. heat up the screw head, use a good fitting screw driver and rap the head of the screw driver with a small hammer while trying to turn. if there lock tighted this should work. i also like trying soaking in atf and acetone.
 
If you really need those screws out, you need to peen the top of them a bit with a punch and hammer, then the slots will be tighter - so the proper size of screwdriver bit can be tapped into the screw and firmly smacked to loosen things up a bit - scare it - then maintain some serious down pressure as you attempt to thread them out.

About the bluing - I donno - I've spent so many hours trying to get things right with all the different cold blues ................ they make some really nice spray bombs now and paint dries overnight after a few minutes of spraying. If is is no museum piece - paint might be real nice.
 
Well she is blued and Im pretty happy with it.
Still no museum piece but WAY less rust.
Ill share the entire process tomorrow.
