Hey all,

I'm refinishing a old cooey model 60 and although the metal and wood have come out half decent after about six and half hours of work. I'm stuck on the bolt, I can't for the life of me get it disassembled. This is my first time doing a complete strip and rebuild and thought this old 22 would be an easy starter but the bolt is throwing a wrench in that plan. I did the blueing and the wood and now I'd like to polish the bolt but I need to strip it first. Any help would be greatly appreciated??? Even an old thread link would be great. Thanks

Cheers

I was told to dissemble the bolt this way but I couldn't figure it out as well. You pull both parts of the bolt as far apart as they can go, grab a pare of grips and grab the rod in the center, after that you twist of one of the ends. Once again though even with this information I still could not do it. Please keep me informed if you figure it out!

If you need to disassemble thebolt, you will need to make a tool. Pull the striker back, and look at the rear of the bolt body. You will see a little collar with slots. This needs to be unscrewed. You will need to make a little spanner to engage these slots. It will have to fit around the striker rod. If you want to remove the striker head from the rod, tap out the crosspin. The extractor is pried off the bolt.
Note: be careful doing this detailed disassembly. These rifles are long out of production. Damage something, and you will be searching for parts.

Will give this a try and let you know how I make out. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the info and advice.

cheers
