Cooey Chamber Question

A friend of mine got this really old cooey from inside the family and wanted to get my thoughts on it - not that it is worth money or anything but just to see if it would still be able to shoot. So I'm looking at it, and I'm not familiar with these at all, but that chamber doesn't look right to me... was wondering what you guys think?

Almost like there is a chunk missing out of it or something?

I'm thinking my advice is "yeah don't shoot that" but wanted to get an opinion since I haven't seen an old rimfire like this before. Any thoughts?

It's fine ! That's the factory factory groove cutout for the extractor to go behind the shell rim so it's able to pull it out.Give it a clean and get shootin' !
 
Well that's great news! She sure does need a cleaning, going to get a good bath tonight and I'm of course going to go shoot the hell out of it before I give it back to him :)
