Cooey dovetail scope mount?

I have a Winchester Cooey that my father passed onto me 25 years ago. It's pretty much sat in the safe, brought out odd times. I had a 10/22 for a while, but have since sold that.

Back to the Cooey. I love it, shoots very straight, there are many happy badgers and coyotes around Holden and Elk Point from all the gophers it's taken.

It has an odd scope mount on it. There isn't a dovetail on it, the mount sorta screws into the side of the receiver and has a tunnel for a very small scope. I used one for a pellet gun for many years but would like to mount a decent scope on it with a larger body.

is there any way to mount a scope on it? I can provide pics if this will help. I was considering getting a custom piece machined.

Thanks!

If you can post some pics of the side mount, someone should be able to tell you what it is.
Weaver makes a couple of side mounts for round receiver 22s.
Yours, depending on vintage, could be an "N" mount or one of the newer 2 piece side mounts from Weaver.

I believe you have an older Weaver N3 mount. There are direct replacements available for it as a two part system. The base and a separate removable 1 inch ring assembly. Lots of information if you google cooey 600 (or 60) scope mounts. If I remember correctly I used weaver part # 48402 Side Mount Scope base #2 and # 49350 1" inch high bracket & rings. I believe I needed the "high" mount because I was using a modern scope with multi piece tube and a bulge around the middle for the adjustment turrets. "Low" mount was for older one piece tubes, like your current scope, that require no clearance at the bottom ot the tube. Hope this helps

I have a couple of Weaver N2 mounts on vintage guns that take the 3/4" tubed scopes like you have. However, I have an N3 mount still in the package and it says it's for a 7/8" tubed scope.

There are modern two-part sidemounts available that'll accommodate 1" scopes. I have one here, and will dig it out for additional info when I get home.

EDIT OOOPS: should read all of the thread before postin...I skipped this:)

I went out and bought the parts listed above, the weaver mount and rail. I tried Wholesale Sports first, but they didnt have the rail. Cabelas on the north side had them both,

I also bought a cabelas brand scope in 3-9 x 32. I'll mount it up and post a pic here one of these days.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

Your right, it's looking real good. Hopefully it shoots as well for you as mine does. My old eyes and the new scope on my 600, go very well together. She does like the good stuff though. CCI Mini Mags are my "always in the sweet spot" ammo.
