I had a Cooey 39 as a kid and I am in the process of restoring it as gift for my nephew. In the mean time I've been keeping an eye on any in good condition on EE to add to my collection. I've been doing some research on Cooey as a company and the model 39 in particular.
This is what I know:
Started in 1919, bought by Winchester in 1961 and closed in 1979.
The 39 was introduced in the 1938 Cooey Catalog released in late 1939.
Over the years the "39 platform" was use on different models and the rifle shares components with other rifles, like the Ranger, Eatonia, 75 and so on.
When Winchester took over in the early 60's the 39 was made in different models, I have to models made I believe before 1971 (In 1971 they introduced the plastic buttstock, trigger guard and new stock shape) that I need clarification on year of production.
These 2 models have steel triggers and we're made before 1968 when aluminum/alloy triggers were introduced.
Some came with "straight stock"

Some with a "pistol grip"

Some came apart with a one screw

Some had a take down knob

Some had a wide front sight

Other had a narrow front sight

Information on when these different "variants" were introduced would be appreciated.
