Cooey Military 82 Collectors Group

I picked one up a few years ago at a gun show. Nice condition. fair price, unfortunately a civilian version. Found a peep sight but haven't mounted it yet. My High School Cadet Corps had racks of them in the 60's. Never saw the bolts as we used them for drill purposes. I often wonder where they went. I do know that as CO of the local Army Cadet Corps I returned 5 very nice functional No's 7 back to our support base at 8 Wing Trenton to be turned in DP only rifles.
That was a few years ago. At least I knew their fate!

We used C7 in our high school. I never saw an 82. It would be interesting to know how different schools got different rifles. My high school in Ontario was a cadet school and used all Enfields for training. Same with the local sea cadets.

When I lived in Quebec, almost 40 years ago, we would drive to a place called WINOSKI (spelling ??) in Vermont. There was a place called FORREST HILLS FACTORY OUTLET.
my granddad bought a brand new cooey model 82,covered in cosmoline,in a box for $ 8 (EIGHT) dollars....back when our money was worth MORE !!!there were several pallets of them and from June to September, they were on sale. first thing granddad did was remove the front wood. that was back in the late 1950s. my brother finally gave it away, not so many years ago.....I hunted grouse and snowshoe hare on ISLE PERROT from 10 years old to 13,when I got my ''new'' .22 and an IVAR JOHNSON 12ga.
but then, I sold my 1968 AMX and my 64 Pontiac convertible for nex to nothing!!!! who knew .

I remember that store. The rifles sold for $10.00 each or two for $18.00

Thanks for the photos Manitou210. Does it have a serial number stamped into the bottom of the pistol grip? It looks really nice, did you just take it out of the washer? Cooeys are always best air dried.
