I've been offered a small collection of 3 rifle, one of which is Cooey Mod.64 made, as they were, for the nylon mags. As we know, the nylon "miracle" material didn't stand the test of time and Cooey started making the 64's with the 10 shot metal mags. Is there any interest in the original models? I know I can get the conversion kits and I've done it in the past, but I'd hate to upgrade the rifle if there's any collector interest in the original Mod.64's. Any helpful input would be most appreciated. Thanks all.

They can be changed to metal mags with no permenent alterations. Its just a few parts swapped up. I change all mine over to metal mags. Cant ever seem to keep them around though except the one that a close friend gave me
Western Gun Parts. I've done 2 conversions in the past, but we're getting off thread here. My question was is there any interest in original ones or should I just do the conversion?
It is functional, but without a mag, what good is it? Unless there's a market for, or a collector of, original Mod.64's, it only makes sense to do the conversion to make it usable. Yes, the mags are scarce as hen's teeth but with good reason. As I understand it, they became friable with age and were prone to breaking and cracking. If someone wants it "as is" as a collectible or if they have an unbroken mag, I'd leave it be. If there's no interest in it, I'll do the conversion.

Generally no one wants em unless they are functional.
iirc, the conversion won't permanently alter the rifle, so there's no fear of losing value anyways if you keep the old parts.
I kind of remember that maybe a feed ramp needs to filed, so I might be wrong.

On the two I've converted thus far, I didn't encounter feeding issues, but the metal cap on the magazine well has to be re-contoured to accept the 10 rnd. metal mags. If I convert this one, I'll have to look into the feeding mod that you mention. Thank you.
