Howdy folks looking for some help in the removal of a very sloppy extractor. Does one just lift the end closest toe the firing pin hole with a small screwdriver and pull it free or are then hidden pins to worry about as well. Thanks. Thought the question would get better exposure here the the gunsmith section.

You have the right idea. Be very, very careful. They like to break. Here's a pic of on out of the bolt.
Going back in is another story. I have had the most success inserting the pin end then giving the hook end a tap with a hammer. Again, be very, very careful.

where does one find a new one and how do you get it out?
Mine was real easy to take out because it lost its tension. My spare is still in a bolt I picked up at a gun show years ago. Now that one is the problem child when it comes to removal. I just put a screw driver under the loose one. lifted it to clear the stud and pulled it away from the bolt.

I have one, $30 mailed, regular post.
sstoller here on CGN was able to find me some that were made (new) by somebody in Winnipeg a few years back. I broke one installing it, one was installed successfully, and the third is a spare. The extractor is the weak point in an otherwise good, simple Cooey design.

Bob Harvich, from Wpg, had some made years ago (at least 20). I remember his place, having gone there early in my hobby.

In addition to the small flat screwdriver, you can get a pair of needle nose locking pliers and secure the jaws around the middle of the extractor that is just ahead of the hole in the bolt handle. While carefully prying up on the screwdriver, you can also apply leverage on the locking pliers against the bolt handle. You have to have the bolt caught in a vise for this.

Well took the 39 to the range and still no extraction. So I pulled it (extractor) out of the bolt bent it a bit more where it goes into the bolt handle (to apply more pressure) and away it went. No problems after that on the 30 or 40 shots I took with it.
