its a 22. single shot. i have a new bolt coming in to replace my busted one. will it need headspacing? how can i check it?

also the front sight wont stay in how can i get it to stay?

Use a centerpunch on the top of the barrel behind or in front of the sight with the bottom of the barrel resting on something solid and non-marking[Wooden bench] Get someone to hold the gun.Bolts may or may not fit and if too long for the action to close require gentle filing to the rear of the bolt handle.Proceed slowly as you can't put metal back easily.Sometimes the OD of the bolt is too great and you need to put the bolt in a vice and use crocus cloth to take it down a little.Harold

The bolt must fit tightly against the back of the barrel... removing metal from the back of the bolt handle is the correct way to fit it... it is best done in a lathe... so it is kept square to the bolt rotation... careful filing can also do it...

well it needs some meat put back its a hair too short to lock up tight. how can i do this? im not taking it to a gunsmith as i already put as much as its worth in it. put it on the handle or the reciver? and what method to put it on? mig, silver solder, bubblegum?

It must not be a new bolt... as they have a lot of meat on them...

I have lathed them back and soldered a piece in place and machined it to the correct tolerance successfully.
