I've picked up a really nice Model 60. It hasn't been drilled for a scope mount. Curious if anyone knows what year Cooey started drilling scope holes in the receiver? I read a post on another site where the poster said they had purchased a new Model 60 from Sears in 1957 that was drilled so I assume mine pre-dates '57. They didn't put serial numbers on them either.
Thanks.

Is it a Cooey 60 or a "Model" 60? I was of the understanding that the Cooey 60 was made pre '61 and the Model 60 was post '61 after Winchester had taken over Cooey. But i could be wrong. Learning about them myself. I was also of the understanding that Winchester offered some models with the scope mount and scope. But only a limited number had that option.

The old model 60's were drilled for a Weaver side mount I 'm not sure if it was an option, meaning that earlier guns could be had with or without the scope mount holes? I have one in the box that was given to a salesman who used to call in at the Cooey factory. It was presented to him by DH Cooey at the time period that Winchester was taking over. On the box, it says Cooey model 60 drilled and tapped for a Weaver N3 mount.
