ok so i have not shot these in my cooey model 60 and im thinking
would it put undue whear on the barrel

ive been shooting this gun since i could walk(with help) i dont want to end its useful life

im looking for a new coyote/wolf ammo (yes i use a .22lr for wolf and coyote)

i want some better penetration for hart and lung shots

I am a little confused. You are saying you want a bullet that will give you better penetration. This leads me to believe that maybe the .22 is not doing the job it should. Instead of wondering if CCI stingers will work, what have you got against moving up to a little more fire power if you want to continue to hunt wolfe and coyote.

becuse its the only rifle i have that has a bullet under .275" in my county here in southern ont i cant use anything with a bullet bigger then .275"
i hunt them now with .22lr and i dont have a problem but i sometimes nee to shoot them more then 2 times

Have you thought about using the CCI Velocitor instead of Stinger? It is geared more towards the larger game. The stingers might not penetrate large game as well. Just a thought.

"...in my county here in Southern Ont I can't..." Hi. You can't use any centre fire greater than .275 calibre, by the cartridge name, not the bullet diameter. A .270 Win, for example, is ok, despite its .277" bullet diameter. A .276 Pedersen, if you could find one, is not. Yes, it is stupid.
In any case, you'll have to try a box of Stingers to find out if your rifle will shoot them well. Try a box of every hyper-velocity .22 ammo. They won't bother your rifle.

Serious? Go to the EE and pick up a cheap old .222,.223,.243 etc. If you're shooting them more that much the cartridge clearly isn't doing the job.

While I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a coyote with a .22 if thats what I happened to have in hand when one popped up, I would never go looking for them without something a little heavier.

this is not asking if a .22lr will take it down its done the job more then once i was able to take them in one shot with the ammo i was using.

what this is about if the cci stingers would where the bore on a cooey model 60 faster then normal.

and i would buy a new rifle but money is tied up right now with a few projects
and i do have a AR in .223 but i cant use that for hunting can i its restricted

No, the CCI stingers are not going to "where" the bore out of your old Cooey. Since you don't seem to be open to any suggestions other than the stingers, by all means try them out.

I would be more worried about what shoots the most accurately than what has more "punch" Since the .22LR is marginal on game the size of coyote in the first place. Shot placement will be the key. Stingers have a reputation for poor accuracy in some firearms

By the way, past 20 yards the velocitor has more energy and penetration than the stinger does, and the further out you go, the more velocitor is superior to the stinger in every category. Just saying........since in your original post you wanted better penetration on "hart" shots.

Go to CCI's website, they have a very nice comparison for all their ammo on there

its enough dont need a cannon to hunt them lol

Sure a .22 will do it, but I'm also sure some will claim they have seen a moose downed with a .22 with a well placed shot. You stated that it is taking sometimes more than 2 shots to finish them off. How many got away that were never found? Now assuming the reason why you have to shoot them more than twice is because of not enough bullet and energy,(assuming good shot placement) wouldn't it be nice (and humane) to have the calibre that would do it with one shot. Now if the reason you have to shoot them more than twice is because of poor shot placement, then that's a little harder to cure. Now using a .22 can be argued until the cows come home, but there is no denying that a small centre fire is better for the job of going after coyote and wolf. For Pete's sake even a .22 mag would be better. The gun doesn't have to be a cannon.

I agree. I've used my 17 HMR on few coyote with a few results like yours with the 22LR. But I coyote hunt with my 22-250.

I had a 22LR experience I'll never forget. When I was 12, my uncles were butchering 3 pigs. They took 2 ten round mags directly to the tops of their heads before they were all down.

A coyotes rib cage or chest maybe weaker the a pig skull but the difference between point blank range and a 75 yard shot is huge.

The rimfire bullets are too small, soft, and slow for coyote.

money is not there for me to buy a new gun right now every penny in gone on my double flintlock shotgun im making

I can understand the money thing.

However, after seeing this video, I wouldn't even think of using a .22lr for coyote.....

that guy dose not know how to shoot a hart or double lung will put a yote down in its tracks

people underestimate what the little .22 can do but my OP was not about if it can do it its if the cci stinger will wear out the barrel faster then it should
but i wont and i know why its loaded with 2.5gr of a slow burning powder and thats why it has the 1600+ fps the powder burns for longer down the barrel

What? You just said you sometimes need more than 2 shots...that's what? 3? 4? Come on man, be humane.

You can buy a damn .223 for like $300. .243 and .270 are all legal where you are too if you can find a used one cheap (you can).
