Hello everyone.

I am new to the hobby and this forum. I bought a Cooey model 60 from a good friend, and it shot great. After a full day of shooting I did a full take down and cleaning, and after reassembling it has a feeding issue. The rounds seem to be getting caught under and to to right of the bolt and are not being picked up. If anyone could tell me what I've done wrong when reassembling it I would really appreciate it. The action cycles well when empty, but it just wont chamber rounds out of the tube magazine. Ive linked the Flickr account I used to upload some pictures of the malfunction as im still too new to post pictures directly to CGN

Thank you, Eugon

Is amazing to me that the testing round you show, is sitting so far to the side of the lifter - I am quite sure on mine that the opening of the action brings that new round, fully centered, up towards upper part of bolt - held by extractors - ready to enter chamber when bolt is closed. Did that testing round come out of the magazine, or did you just place it there?? Not real certain what could be bent?? Perhaps one of the leaves of the double extractor is turned back close to bolt face - although typically made of spring steel - more likely to break off than bend??

That round was fed from the magazine. It happened like that at the range with a live round, and Ive been playing with snap caps at home since trying to figure it out. You think one of the leaves on the extractor is bent? They both seem to be at the same angle and everything.

I do not know if bent or not - I was assuming it is re-assembled correctly and trying to figure out how such a picture as you showed could occur. You have the rifle there - I do not have it here - as you said, it used to work - 1,000's of them worked properly for many decades - up to you to find what is now different??

If you had the bolt out, you slacked off the screw that holds the magazine up against the bolt, with its lug engaging the bolt. Did you reassemble it with the magazine held in engagement with the bolt, with just enough clearance to allow the magazine to move fore and aft? If this adjustment is off, there could be feeding issues.

Yes I thought that may be the issue. I tried to set that bolt with just enough clearance to let the magazine slide, but maybe its still too loose. I will keep playing with it. Thank you!

Did you remove the extractor when you tore it down for cleaning? These snap in place. If the thing gets bent, rounds may not get properly picked up when they are raised out of the magazine.

Further towards rear is a lifter - it should have lifted a new shell from mag up onto bolt face behind those extractors - is that lifter functioning?? Did you disconnect and then reconnect it?? So opening bolt on an empty magazine - that follower should be tilted up by that lifter??

It was the lifter! Somehow it had become bent to the left and would wedge the round between itself, the wall of the receiver and the extractors on the bolt. Just a little pressure with a screwdriver and it working perfectly! Thanks everybody!
