Cooey model 64 b .22 tirgger help

A buddy of mine bought my lakefield 64B... same thing... he found an after market trigger for it and now it's really nice... I'll tell him about this thread...

I bought ebruders lakefield and found the trigger a little sloppy.. so I looked for some options to replace

I think the trigger assm is part 73 and should be able to be ordered as aftermarket from any gun store. I got mine from Gobles in London with relative ease. I can't recall the price but it wasn't too pricey.

The new Savage trigger assm is a 100% drop in plug and play. Works great, and I kept the old one for 'historical' value.:D

Seriously .. the new trigger assm returns the old girl to her glory years! Crisp trigger, consistent break significantly less than 20lb.. I'd say 3lb but have not validated this.

I have completely eliminated the slop, side to side play, creep/mush...
 
I could care less if it had some slop... I am telling you I am tuckered out if I have to shoot 10 shots in a row. My finger gets a groove in it that thing is so hard to pull. What am I missing... possibly the worse trigger I have ever used!
 
Well, then drop a new one in and lighten it up to something more bareable.. Swing on over to Shooters choice and try out the pull on a new Savage 64 and see what you think.. If you like it, order the assm through their gunsmith and make the swap.
 
You can order parts directly from savage. Throw in a couple extra magazines in the order, only 13-15 bucks from savage, cheap shipping too.
 
I don't believe anything is broken or worn. I think the trigger is just a bad design. I am a machinist and have done lots of trigger jobs but this one has me baffled.

Isn't there anything I can do to improve it?
 
I tried to polish the sear with a dremmel tool, and it made some difference. But the brand new Savage replacement was such an improvement. Identical in design to the assm that is in your Lakefield.

Try out a Savage 64, and I`d be curious what your review of it is..
 
My 64b trigger must have been over 10 lbs as well. I did some polishing on the seer with 600, 1500, and 2000 grit on a piece of glass. It's definitely better but light enough yet. Next time I have it apart I'll polish the hammer as well and hopefully that'll do it.

What is the difference in construction compared to the original unit? This sounds interesting as I have a 64B that could use a better trigger.
 
From what I saw.. there was no real difference in construction between the Lakefield and the Savage... the only thing I noticed was the Savage trigger was a little wider than the original Lakefield but makes no difference.

I originally tried to polish the seer with my dremel, but just couldn't seem to make any significant improvements.. The drop in was night/day improvements..

Previously I found myself almost pulling off target due to the force required at times to pull the trigger.
