Ok I have a Cooey model 71 in .270 win. I was given this rifle a few years ago by an uncle who couldn't be bothered with registering. The question I have is what accesories are out there for this rifle? The barrel is stamped made by Winchester Canada, would I be better off trying to find Winchester mounts or stocks?
The biggest problem is the the scope monts as the rear mount seems to spced up with a rubber? block and the stock is somewhat small for me.

From John Beltons book Cooey Firearms made in Canada. This was the low cost Canadian version of the winchester model 70, introduced in 1966. Became the model 710 in 1968. Discontinued in 1972. Availablbe in 225 win, 243, 270, 308 and 30-06.

Cooey sold out to winchester in april of 1961.---Cowboy

I've got 2 in .225 and love them.Mounts are easy to find at any gun shop and think there the same for M70.I've all got a extra stock and small parts as well.

Thanks to who ever moved this ...... alot more responses here.
So this was essentially the same as the Win mod 70 then? So then will synthetic stocks for M.70 work as well?

Might require some fitting... also your M71 probably has a blind magazine, so you'd have to find a similar M70 stock with blind mag feature to fit it to. Otherwise you'd have to scare up a mag box & floor plate/bottom metal if you put it into that kind of M70 stock...

I have a model 71 that was made in 1962. Very accurate rifle. MIne is a 270 also. As for anew stock Westerngun parts here in Edmonton has anice walnut replacement stock all redeay inletted. Just got to finish the stock the way you like.

"...what accesories(sic) are out there..." None. M70 scope mounts work though. Take the rubber out.
"...essentially the same as the Win mod 70 then?..." Similar, but not a copy. A synthetic stock will definitely require fitting, but only in the recoil lug slot. It'll need filling in with epoxy or other bedding material. The trigger guard is bigger on the 70 too. No big deal just use the Cooey guard and forget about the forward screw. It does nothing but hold the guard in place. The rear screw is the rear action screw and holds the guard by itself with no problems.

I got lucky and found a ram-line synthetic stock for a win model 670 that fit, but I had to fill bottom of the mag since my cooey was a blind mag. Mine is in 225 win and I got the barrel shortened, and re-blued and she's a shooter now.

I had a Cooey 71 in .270 a few years back. Really good shooter but very plain (that was a bone of contention with me). Could find any stock for it, I tried a few makes of Mod 70 stocks from different vendor that wouldn't work - very frustrating. Sold it.
