Cooey Model 75 Problems

Hi folks,

I thought that maybe (if I'm lucky!) someone here may be able to help us out with this.

I purchased a Cooey Model 75 from a fellow here a few months ago and overall look of the gun was as advertised and the fellow even had the gun checked out by a "gunsmith" prior to advertising it for sale.

I received the firearm and waited for the transfer and then took it to the range to try it out. After a number of shots it had problems ejecting the spent cartridges and upon further examination I discovered the ejector was broken off. With a follow up examination of the spent cartridges I noticed that they were swollen at the base which to me indicated a head space issue.

Well, sure enough, even with the bolt closed against the cam on the back of the action the bolt can be pushed forward (toward the muzzle) a noticeable amount. We suspected it was a bolt problem and the fellow sourced and supplied a used bolt.

Upon receipt of the replacement bolt I find the headspace issue is still there.

With further examination I see a small gap between the barrel and the action (where it mates up) which can be seen in the attached picture. (hope this works!)

Does anyone have any advice for us? My understanding of the Cooey is that the action and barrel are forced together and seated with pressure rather than threaded so does this just need to be pressed together with more force?

Thanks so much for your thoughts, Bob
