i'm looking to buy a cooey model 82, the guy says it won't extract. am i able to buy a replacement extractor or do i have to replace the bolt?

if it is only the extractor, how easy are they to find and where can i get one?

if it is the bolt, same question as above, and is the bolt on the model 82 just a standard cooey bolt that i can take off of any cooey rifle?

thanks

Try Numrich. They carry almost every part out there.

Maybe the chamber has never been cleaned. Try cleaning it out with a brass brush if you get it and see if that helps.

I was told that the bolts on Cooeys were individually fitted and not easily interchanged.
Could it be: dry firing it has raised a peen on the edge of the chamber thus hanging up the brass? Sometimes some careful Dremel work can clean that up. The M82 bolt is so bone simple that I can't imagine it can be a very difficult issue to address.

I don't think Numrich even knows what a Cooey is let alone has any parts for them...:(
Edited to add: Nice find, they have a few parts under Winchester.

cooey extractor

western gun parts probably has one. if not I know a couple guys that will have one. if you need a new bolt unlikely but very easy to install and get proper headspace.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at the gun and report back when I know a bit more. He's selling it for about $70, and probably less if the extractor is broken etc.... is that a decent price?

Is that full wood military marked? If so grab it, it's a steal...unless it's a piece of junk...:)

I bought one. Extractor was broke. Bought two bolts here on CGN and both work fine. These bolts are the same as many other Cooey single shot .22's (Ace, ect) so the bolts are easy to come by. I really wouldn't worry about fitting or headspace with these. You might wanna do a little filing to improve the trigger pull though, the 82's are notorious for having awful trigger pull.

How durable are the cooey exractors? Is the breaking of them very common? I was looking to pick a few cooeys up from 2 different people but if the extractors are a known flaw that will give me more hassle tan anything i might pass it up.... considering the m82 trainer, model 60, model 39, and winchester 600

Any advice?

Hey! Don't bother with Numrich, and all that border jazz, try:

Mr. Russ Wood, PO box 368 Blind River Ontario, POR1BO

PM me for more contact information. He's the man for Cooey Model 82/75 parts, and is a good guy and easy to deal with (not online though).

Tony, thanks, I just called him and found some parts I need...:)
