Cooey model 840 28 gauge

Around $160.00-$175.00 going by the pics. Would be more if it was the model 84. Maybe you would squeeze more out of it if you find the right buyer who really wants one. Of course the value would be higher if the stock finish was better.

Maybe .You are being kind . My image of 80% plus is quite different than the op's
Then again I am comparing it to my 840 and 84 in 28ga

What can I say, that's my nature, lol. Yes, my idea of 80% is a bit different as well. That's where pics are important as well as a good description of the mechanics.
 
How hard is to find one of these? Does anyone know the production numbers? Ive only seen one first hand my friends father owned it and was given it by his grandfather; so id feel bad asking to try and buy it. But someday id love to have one for rabbits there is something intriguing about the 28 gauge.

One can forget about finding production numbers for cooey's
I have never found them to be hard to find when looking for them if shooters was what I was looking for since most are just that now and well used
Finding nice clean ones for a collection yes that was just about impossible and over the years I think I changed out four 84's to finally get the one I wanted to save and three 840's in 28ga

They are uncommon but not rare. The older 84's bring a higher price and are a better gun overall in my opinion. I saw an older 84 in 28 gauge here in N.B. at a gun show a couple weeks back maybe 75% condition. The owner wanted $450 for it. I think he was about $200 too high but who knows, someone may pay that.

Agree. Rare to me also in 28ga is model 12 winchesters ;) not cooey's

Canadian shotgun culture cuddling a barn yard gun that was the market Cooey was aming for every farm yard had one in a barn a grainery or the porch of the house . In early 60's when I was a 7-9 yrs old growing up in Saskatchewan our farm had a Cooey shotgun and a model 75 22 rimfire and every farm down the road had the same and maybe a lee enfield of some configuration . I remember the older men that were hunters had model'12's or a wingmaster and 97's .
