Cooey or Husky?

I'm looking for a simple no frills single shot, accurate .22. looking at either cooey 39/75 or husky youth

i know the cooeys can shoot both short and long how about the husky?

the husky does not have an extractor so that might be a minor inconvenience. but it does have an octogon barrel

but i do like the non self cocking action of the cooey. kind of nice not having to trust a safety

thoughts?

The Cooeys have been here for years and offer a nice sturdy stock. I would bet parts would be much easier to find in the years to come for the Cooeys over the Husky. A simple request on the EE can find reasonalby prices stocks, bolts, etc for the Cooeys. I've got one here waiting for my kids to get to that age, decent shape with no more that $50 invested in it. There are lots out there.

Husky can shoot s, l, lr.

I have a cooey 39 and a Husky 165 (octagon medium heavy barrel, turned down bolt handle). They are both fun little guns. The Husky is heavier and feels more like a full size rifle, the cooey is better for very smallish young shooters due to light weight.

The Husqvarna might be considered a better quality gun. Machined parts vs stamped, better blueing, nicer sights. But it depends on condition more than anything else. You should get one of both.

I would buy the cooey because they are excellent old guns. Having no extractor is a major inconvenience if you can't find one.

I'd get one of the old Mossberg tube feeds. They will shoot S,L,LR, and are good and accurate old guns.

You are likely to be able to pick up a fully functional Cooey 39 in reasonably good cond for about $50. Accurate and safe. Nuf said. But I sold mine cuz I had a chance to buy a BRNO CZ468 trainer single shot. Waaaaaayyy nicer gun than either of them and machined parts all the way too. Picked mine up for under $150 in cherry condition. Wooohooo. Side by each the Cooey is butt ugly.

At the prices get both, and if you're worried about parts get two of each!
