Cooey Pump 22

Didn't handle it. Metal looks to be going brown. Just age, not corrosion. Looked like a decent used Cooey.

I recently had one but have sent it to a collector the rifle was very hard to make cycle and was prone to Ftf fte misfeeding etc... The pump has a arm running the side of the receiver with a rod sticking out of it that hooks the bolt which is essentially a standard cooey bolt with the arm cut off. I did shoot it but could not get it to work reliably better Left to the collectors imho.

I watched the video and the guy doesn't know how to use it to start with unless something's wrong with that 35. After firing it you shouldn't have to use the action release to open the action after every shot. Its only locked when its cocked not after its fired.

Don't know about the cooey, but I really love my old takedown Winchester 1906, have probably only put a couple hundred rounds through it but have yet to have a Failure to feed or fire.

Anyway, point is if others have experienced problems with the cooey there are some alternatives out there that are lots of fun! My little winny pump will never be sold or traded, but I have others that I would consider selling, everyone should have an old pump or lever .22

I think there was a good reason these were produced in such limited numbers by Cooey. I wish I could recall which poster described the first one they'd seen as appearing to be a homemade pump cobbled together from an original repeater...

The shine on these doesn't nec. stem from it's awesomeness in engineering, but the rarity. For that price I would have popped on one though...a good buy on an Edsel is still a good buy

I think most people who look for a Cooey pump are doing so because they may be in to collecting and because, for a Cooey, it is rare. It is rare because it had problems from the get-go, mainly the stock cracking. As already mentioned, one usually doesn't buy one because it is an engineering marvel. If you are wanting a gun as a reliable shooter for round after round, then you shouldn't be considering a model 35 for that purpose.

^ Cooey love vs practical application... No disrespect to either camp.

$250.00 for a functional one (I hate numbers threads) is a nice find esp considering what 82's fetch now.

I had a cooey 82, it was fun for about 5 minutes, a real beauty of a rifle but no magazine, and single feed gets boring pretty quick for shooting gophers, paper or tin cans, though it was real purity though

Hahaha....couldn't agree more. They are dead boring.

What I hate the most about single shot Cooeys is the requirement to #### it after closing the bolt...ho hum.

It's me in the vid. It was first time ever taking the pump Cooey out. Had to break her back in and get it going. Here is follow up vid showing it working properly. Enjoy

All is well. I shoulda lubricated and worked in action at home. They are really just a novelty- same as the Noble arms pump 22. But I get a kick out of these neat guns. Coolest pump 22 I own is the Hamilton 39 in 22 short.

FYI smoke eater I brought a rake with me to that range and cleaned up my area. That didn't help- It's closed now due to neglect.
